An update on housing growth in Fitzroy North and Nicholls Ward.
We have lots of new apartments being planned and built as part of the Yarra Council strategy that encourages building on appropriate sites.
There are over 1500 that I know of with the majority in the Gasworks site where the Wurun Senior School and Bundha Sports Complex are.
Yarra Council’s strategy is simple in theory but hard in practice.
Identify sites that can take new housing and support a growing population … but wihout destroying the heritage fabric of the area that makes our Fitzroy North community what it is.
