{"id":368,"date":"2025-08-21T16:11:33","date_gmt":"2025-08-21T06:11:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ken4fitzroynorth.net.au\/?p=368"},"modified":"2025-08-21T16:11:34","modified_gmt":"2025-08-21T06:11:34","slug":"bike-lanes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ken4fitzroynorth.net.au\/index.php\/2025\/08\/21\/bike-lanes\/","title":{"rendered":"Bike Lanes"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>In Dec 2019, the previous Council removed over 70 parking spots in Elizabeth St Richmond (between Hoddle and Church Streets) to build a 12 month trial bike lane.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a><\/a>Bike lanes are an important part of our transport mix but the needs of the local residents were ignored.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>No consultation was done.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>6 years later, this new Council is designing a permanent bike lane that still protects bike riders but returns much needed parking spots.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Residents and visitors to the Ch\u00f9a Ph\u01b0\u1edbc T\u01b0\u1eddng Buddhist Temple are finally being listened to.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Councillor Ken Gomez<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-video\"><video height=\"1080\" style=\"aspect-ratio: 1080 \/ 1080;\" width=\"1080\" controls src=\"https:\/\/ken4fitzroynorth.net.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/Elizabeth-St-Recommendation-Walkthrough.m4v\"><\/video><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In Dec 2019, the previous Council removed over 70 parking spots in Elizabeth St Richmond (between Hoddle and Church Streets) to build a 12 month trial bike lane.
